Comments on the geologic information

  • SEVERAL SCHEELITE-BEARING TACTITE BODIES NONE OF WHICH IS WIDER THAN 2 FEET. SCHEELITE OCCURS IN THIN BANDS OF GARNET TACTITE FORMED ALONG THE WESTERN MARGIN OF THE LARGE PINE FOREST INTRUSIVE MASS. SMALL PODS OF MINERALIZED TACTITE OCCUR ALONG THE CONTACT. THE LARGEST MINERALIZED TACTITE POD IS 3 FT THICK.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit SCHEELITE OCCURS IN THIN BEDS OF GARNET TACTITE, 1.5-3 FT WIDE, ALONG THE WESTERN MARGIN OF THE PINE FOREST INTRUSIVE. THE GRANODIORITE UNDERLIES THE ENTIRE CLAIM AREA AND THE TACTITE BODIES ARE PENDANTS THAT PROBABLY DO NOT EXTEND DOWN DIP MORE THAN 15 FT. THE SCHEELITE IS FINE-GRAINED AND FLUORESCES A GOLDEN YELLOW. SOME SMALL PODS OF TACTITE MAY CONTAIN ABOUT 0.5 % WO3, BUT MOST OF IT IS BARREN.
Deposit OWNED BY M.A. JENSEN AND J.S. ALEXANDER, IN 1944, AND BY HERB MERRILL IN 1976. IT CONSISTS OF 3 LODE CLAIMS. SMALL PROSPECT PITS, SHAFTS, AND ADITS EXPOSE THE CONTACT ZONE FOR ABOUT 2000 FT. OF ITS LENGTH. A 1976 REPORT CONCLUDES THAT THE PROSPECT YIELD NO MORE THAN A FEW TENS OF TONS OF LOW-GRADE ORE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT
