  • FIRST EXPLORED PRIOR TO 1943 BY A 300 FT ADIT, PROBABLY FOR PRECIOUS METALS. IN 1943-44 THE JANUARY CLAIMS WERE OWNED BY W.E. JOHNSON, WHO SHIPPED 35 TONS OF ORE. IN 1955 SEVERAL LESSEES SHIPPED ORE FROM THE WILD HORSE CLAIMS. MORE WORK WAS DONE IN 1976 WITH NO REPORTED PRODUCTION.

Deposit SCHEELITE-BEARING TACTITE OCCURS IN 2 THIN BEDS INTERBEDDED WITH HORNFELS NEAR GRANODIOTITIC INTRUSIVES. THESE BEDS EXPOSED IN A 300-FT ADIT WERE ESTIMATED (IN 1944) TO AVERAGE FROM 0.75 TO 1.0 % WO3. NINE TONS OF ORE SHIPPED IN 1944 AVERAGED 1.4 % WO3. THE ORE SHIPPED IN 1955 AVERAGED FROM 0.6 TO 0.9 % WO3.
