Deposit VEIN
Deposit MINERALIZATION IS CONFORMABLE TO THE BEDDING OF THE CONTACT METAMORPHOSED SEDIMENTS AND THE SURROUNDING LESS ALTERED LIMESTONE. THE MINE HAS BEEN OPENED TO A DEPTH OF 190 FEET AND THE TUNNEL, SHAFTS, WINZE, AND DRIFTS VARY FROM 4 TO 20 FEET WIDE. GOOD GRADE CU-AU SHIPMENTS WERE MADE PRIOR TO 1926, FOLLOWED BY CONSIDERABLE DEVELOPMENT WORK AND MORE SHIPMENTS IN 1928-30. SMELTER RETURNS DATED JUNE 10, 1930 ON A CARLOAD OF SORTED ORE ASSAYED 6.77% CU, 6.6. OZ/TON AG, AND .265 OZ/TON AU. (SCHRADER 1935, P 15 + 41) FIRST CU-ORE SHIPPED IN 1880 TO SWANSEA, WALES AND TO BOSTON. (SCHRADER 1912, P 102) THE MINE IS LOCATED ABOUT 700 FEET TO THE NORTH OF THE GRANODIORITE CONTACT. NO DIKE ROCKS ARE IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE CONTACT AT THE MINE. THE DEPOSIT CONSISTS MAINLY OF A 4-FOOT VEIN COMPOSED PRINCIPALLY OF A SILICEOUS-GARNETIFEROUS GANGUE.
