  • MINE WAS DEVELOPED IN 1872 BY THE INGOT MINING CO. BY A 250-FT. ADIT. THE COMPANY HAD A SMELTER NEAR SPRUCEMONT. IN 1873, WHITEHILL REPORTED A 187-FT SHAFT WITH DRIFTS, BUT BY 1913, MOST OF THE WORKINGS WERE CAVED EXCEPT FOR 300 FT. OF A HEAVILY TIMBERED ADIT. THIS WAS ONE OF THE DISTRICT'S EARLIEST PRODUCERS.

Deposit THE FOURTH OF JULY MINE WAS DEVELOPED IN 1872 BY THE INGOT MINING CO. BY A 250 FT ADIT WITH THE END IN THE ORE (SILVER). THE COMPANY HAD A SMELTING WORKS ON THE WESTERN SLOPE OF SPRUCE MT. NEAR SPRUCEMONT. IN 1873 WHITEHILL REPORTED A 187 FT SHAFT WITH DRIFTS, AND BY 1913 MOST OF THE WORKINGS WERE CAVED, EXCEPT FOR 300 FT OF A HEAVILY TIMBERED ADIT.
