| Deposit | SOMETIMES AFTER WORLD WAR II THE CALTON FAMILY OF WELLS OPENED QUARRY ON WONDER MT., ON THE EAST SIDE OF TOWN CREEK RANGE TO MINE THEIR WONDER-TUFF STONE. IT WAS ATTRACTIVE TO BUILDING CONTRACTORS BECAUSE OF ITS VARIED COLORATION AND LIGHTNESS OF WEIGHT. NEVADA PICTURE ROCK WAS MINED FROM NUMEROUS PITS, CUTS AND QUARRIES. THE BEDS ARE FROM 1/4 IN UP TO 1 FT PLUS IN THICKNESS. THERE IS JOINTING IN ALL DIRECTIONS. THE ROCK HAD LIMONITE RING, IS STAINED RUST RED, YELLOW OR PURPLE. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT |
