Deposit A BED OF IMPURE DIATOMITE CONTAINING 80% DIATOMS WITH FRAGMENTS OF VOLCANIC GLASS AND CRYSTALS AND FINE MATERIAL CONSISTING OF DIATOM FRAGMENTS, CLAY AND FINE ASH. BEST MATERIAL IS FINE-GRAINED AND WHITE. MUCH OF THE BED IS GRITTY, CONTAINS CALCAREOUS NODULES OR PIPES, AND GRADES INTO OR IS IN SHARP CONTACT WITH LENSES OF SAND.
