General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit OUTCROPPING TUFFS ARE DIFFERENTIALLY WEATHERED TO REDS, BROWN, GREYS, AND GREEN PATTERNS. ROCKS ARE VERY FINE-GRAINED, SILICEOUS TUFFS WITH QUARTZ CRYSTALS, GLASS SHARPS, AND ARE BLEACHED AND ARGILLICALLY ALTERED. EXPOSED SURFACES ARE COATED WITH IRIDESCENT OXIDES, AND LOCALLY CHLORITICALLY ALTERED. PATTERNS IN THE STONE AND AMOUNT OF IRON OXIDE DECREASE WITH DEPTH, SUGGESTING THAT ALTERATION OF ROCK IS RESULT OF DESCENDING SURFACE WATER. PSILOMELANE COATS SURFACES. CLAY WAS NOTED NORTH OF QUARRY AND GOSSAN OCCURS IN FLOAT. TUFF UNIT IS EXTENSIVELY FRACTUREAND CRUSHED ALONG EXPOSED FACE.
