  • YUBA LEASING CO. ACTIVE ON THE PROPERTY IN 1914, FOUND GOOD ORE SHOOT ON 900 LEVEL. IN 1868, F.L.A. PIOCHE DEPUTED CHARLES E. HOFFMAN TO PURCHASE CLAIMS. HE SECURED SOME OF THE BEST CLAIMS WHICH PIOCHE LATER CONVEYED TO THE MEADOW VALLEY MINING CO. WHICH HE ORGANIZED FOR THAT PURPOSE

Deposit NO COMMERCIAL ORE HAS BEEN DISCOVERED. THE MAIN SHOOT WAS COVERED BY 100 FT OF SHALE AND THE ONLY SURFACE EXPOSURE WAS THIN SEAMS IN SHALE CONSIDERABLE LOW-GRADE (1909) ORE WAS ENCOUNTERED BELOW WATER LEVEL WITH GRADE INCREASING WITH DEPTH.
