Comments on development

  • PROPERTY WAS PURCHASED BY AMERICAN ORE CO IN 1950 AND LEASED IN 1959 TO CONSOLIDATED MINERALS CORP, WHO PRODUCED ORE IN 1959-1962. DISCOVERY OF LARGE HIGH-GRADE IRON ORE DEPOSITS IN AUSTRALIA IN THE 1960'S ESSENTIALLY REMOVED THE MAIN EXPORT MARKETS FOR NEVADA IRON ORE, WHICH LED TO THE CLOSURE OF THIS AND OTHER MINES BY 1970. DISTRICT WAS IDLE IN 1985. SMALL RESERVES.
