Deposit VEINS IN METASEDIMENTS AND PLACERS IN GRAVELS. SMITH CLAIMS ARE IN AREA ABOVE THE GRAVEL AND PROBABLY COVER AN AREA OF SOURCE ROCKS. DOZENS OF DOZER CUTS ON LOWER SLOPES OF NEARBY HILLS ATTEMPT TO EXPOSE GOLD-BEARING QUARTZ VEINS THAT MIGHT BE PRESENT. SAMPLE 2940 WAS FROM ONE OF THE BETTER-LOOKING PROSPECTS DUG AND STAKED IN 1941. THE IRON-STAINED QUARTZ BRECCIA VEIN WAS IN A SMEAR THAT CROSSED THE BEDDING OF A TRIASSIC SILTSTONE.
