Comments on the workings information

  • TWO INCLINED SHAFTS SUNK ON ZONE TO DEPTH OF 10 M, CONNECTED AT THEIR BASES BY 20 M DRIFT. CROSSCUT ADIT 20 M LONG INTERSECTS DRIFT FROM THE SIDE OF THE HILL. ALL ORE ABOVE DRIFT LEVEL HAD BEEN STOPED BY 1943, AND TWO SHORT WINZES EXTENDING FROM THE FLOOR OF THE DRIFT ENCOUNTERED ONLY EXTREMELY LEAN ORE.

Comments on development

  • IN MARCH 1943, A CREW OF THREE MEN WERE TAKING OUT W ORE FROM UNDERGROUND WORKINGS AND A FEW SHALLOW OPEN CUTS. ORE WAS MINED SELECTIVELY USING U/V LAMP, CRUSHED BY HAND, AND CONCENTRATED BY PANNING. MOLYBDENITE IN PAN WAS FLOATED OUT BY ADDING A SPOONFUL OF LARD TO EACH PAN OF MIXED CONCENTRATES.
