  • COUNTRY ROCK MADE UP OF LIMESTONES AND BLACK, FISSILE SHALES WITH THIN INTERBEDDED LIMESTONE. BEDDING IN SHALES: N 35 W, 56 NE. WALL ROCKS LOCALLY MINERALIZED WITH AU-AG-BEARING PYRITE NEAR CONTACTS WITH PORPHYRITIC ANDESITE INTRUSIVES. SHALES GRADE INTO PHYLLITES AND SCHISTS IN APPARENT CONTACT WITH GNEISS TO THE WEST. RHYOLITES OCCUR AS THICK PORPHYRY DIKES AND CIRCULAR DOMES UP TO 135 M IN DIAMETER AND 200 M HIGH. VEIN DEPOSITS ARE APPARENTLY ASSOCIATED WITH RHYOLITE DIKES.

Deposit AU-AG DEPOSITS IN TABULAR VEINS OR LENTICULAR BODIES. HANGING WALLS: ANDESITE PORPHYRY. FOOTWALLS: SLICKENSIDED SHALES. DEPOSITS RANGE IN WIDTH FROM 12-20 M, AVERAGING A 12 M. BEST ORE IN 2.1 M ZONE NEAR HANGING-WALL, GENERALLY SEPARATED FROM WALL ROCKS BY 1.2-1.5 M BAND OF LOW-GRADE MATERIAL. ORE CONSISTS OF QUARTZ + NATIVE GOLD, WITH RARE AU TELLURIDES. LOCALLY: BODIES OF AG SULFIDES ASSOCIATED WITH SULFIDES OF PB, CU, AND FE FORM LENSES 5-15 CM THICK. DEPOSITS ALSO CONTAIN MINOR AMOUNTS OF GALENA, CHALCOPYRITE, NATIVE CU, STIBNITE, CERVANTITE, AND MN OXIDE. A CYLINDRICAL CHIMNEY FOUND IN ONE MINE NEAR SHALE FOOTWALL CONSISTED OF RICH VEINLETS OF ORE MATERIAL IN 21 M HIGH X 10 M WIDE ORE BODY.
Deposit SANTA TERESA MINE: 1500 M FROM SANTO NINO. VEIN 2.4 M WIDE, MAINLY GOLD-BEARING, FOLLOWS FAULT ZONE. CONTAINS FRAGMENTS OF WALL ROCKS. SAN ANTONIO MINE: 4.5 KM FROM SAHUAYACAN. MAINLY AG DEPOSITS. THIS IS ONE OF THE MAJOR MINES OF THE MORIS AREA. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB
