  • WORKINGS CONSIST OF OPEN CUTS OPERATED BY GAMBUSINOS AND A LONG TUNNEL BELOW THE MAIN VEIN, WHICH APPEARS TO MEET IT WHERE THE VEIN IS TAPERING OFF.

  • MINED BY NATIVE AMERICANS. REDISCOVERED BY SPANIARDS SHORTLY AFTER THE TOWN OF SAN CARLOS WAS FOUNDED IN 1767 AND WORKED TO 1810. MINES REOPENED IN 1880 AND WORKED TO 1914. ONLY INTERMITTENT PRODUCTION SINCE. ; ECON.COM: OXIDIZED ORES SMELTED BY SPANIARDS IN 1 MT FURNACES FOR AG ONLY. POST-INDEPENDENCE ORES WERE HANDSORTED, SCREENED AND WASHED TO PRODUCE A 65% PB CONCENTRATE. OLD SPANISH SLAG DUMPS REWORKED 1905-1929.
