  • FAULT ZONE WITH SERPENTINIZED ULTRAMAFIC ROCKS SEPARATING QUARTZ-SERICITE SCHISTS FROM QUARTZ SCHISTS AND AMPHIBOLITES; FOLIATION NE, 70-90 DEGREE DIPS; GARNET GRADE ROCKS; CUT BY OPLITIC DIKES AND QUARTZ VEINS. ULTRAMAFIC BODY WAS EMPLACED BEFORE FOLDING AND METAMORPHISM, FAULT ZONE MAY REPRESENT AN OLD SUTURE ZONE. YOUNGER GRANITIC INTRUSION OCCURS 2-4 KM EAST OF THE MINE. ULTRAMAFIC COMPLEX PROBABLY PART OF AN OPHIOLITE. OXIDATION/ 1-15 M ZONE OF OXIDATION, SURFACE GROSSAN MAY HAVE BEEN 70 M LONG.
