WYSE, CLAIMED THE MINES IN NAME OF PANAMA CANAL COMPANY. 1888: ANGLO-FRENCH COMPANY FORMED TO MINE THE DARIEN BUT INSTEAD OPENED UP A LOW GRADE DEPOSIT WHICH WAS CLOSED IN 1892, BUT A TRIAL SHAFT (100 FT) WAS SUNK NEXT TO THE WORKINGS. 1893-1894: DARIEN GOLD MINING CO., LTD. DEWATERED AND OPENED UP THE OLD MINE; FOUND 3 FT OF ORE ASSAYED 1 OZ/TON AU ON 100 FT ADIT LEVEL, ON NO. 2 CROSS-CUT FOUND ORE $3-11 PER TON AU AND IN NO. 3 CROSS-CUT FOUND ORE $10-20 PER TON AU; IN OLD WORKINGS FOUND STOPE WITH 12 OZ/TON AU - LODE OF 30 FT WIDTH. 1899: COMPANY ABLE TO STOCKS. 1914: COMPANY PASSED INTO HANDS OF CREDITOR, MINING MORE OR LESS ENDED. IXTEPA COMPANY IS DEVELOPING MINE 1993.
