General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit THE UNCONSOLIDATED MATERIALS EXPLOITED FROM THE BORROW PIT RANGE FROM SILT TO BOULDER GRAVEL IN SIZE. THE GRAVELS ARE COMPOSED MOSTLY OF PALEOZOIC SANDSTONE, CHERT, AND LIMESTONE OF VARIOUS SHADES OF RED, YELLOW, AND WHITE; AND GRAY TERTIARY BASALT THAT APPEAR TO BE IN AN OLDER TERRACE OF THE CREEK IN JACKS CANYON. LOCALLY, THE MATERIAL IS COLLUVIUM FROM THE BEDROCK WHICH IS THE SUPAI FORMATION OF PALEOZOIC AGE. THE COBBLE GRAVEL IS FAIRLY, BUT NOT COMPLETELY, FREE OF COATINGS OF CALCIUM CARBONATE OR CLAY.
