Deposit THE PLACER DEPOSIT IS FOUND IN AN ALLUVIAL CONGLOMERATE BELT DEPOSITED BY THE CHENCHE RIVER. THIS CONGLOMERATE LAYER LIES DISCORDANTLY OVER TERTIARY SEDIMENTARY ROCKS. THE CONGLOMERATE IS MADE UP OF QUARTZ DIORITE, GRANODIORITE, AND SEDIMENTARY ROCK CLASTS WITH A SANDY MATRIX. THERE ARE SMALL OCCURRENCES OF GOLD FLAKES AND OTHER HEAVY MINERALS IN THE MATRIX. THE DEPOSIT OCCURS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CHENCHE RIVER, AND HAS A THICKNESS OF 3 METERS.
Deposit BUENAVENTURA (1975) REPORTS THAT THE RICH ZONES OF THE DEPOSIT HAS BEEN WORKED INTENSELY, AND THAT ALL THAT REMAINS ARE POOR REMANENTS.
