Deposit THE DEPOSIT IS IN A RECENT CONGLOMERATE WHICH WAS DEPOSITED BY THE CHELE STREAM. IT CONSISTS OF IGNEOUS ROCK AND QUARTZ CLASTS WITH A MATRIX OF CLAYEY SAND. THE BASE OF THE CONGLOMERATE IS CHARACTERIZED BY MAROON-COLORED OXIDIZED BANDS WHERE THERE ARE CONCENTRATES OF GOLD FLAKES AND HEAVY MINERALS. THE DEPOSIT EXTEND OVER 500 M IN LENGTH, AND IS UP TO 6 M THICK IN PLACES.
Deposit BUENAVENTURA (1975) REPORTS THAT THE DEPOSIT IS RATHER EXTENSIVE, AND THAT THERE ARE STILL AREAS OF GOOD GOLD CONTENT.
