OTHER WORKINGS INCLUDE SMALL ADIT ALONG PRIVATE ROAD 0.15 MI EAST OF ROUTE 609. PRIVATE ROAD LEADING TO WORKINGS IS 0.5 MILE NORTH OF INTERSECTION WITH 634 AND 0.4 MILE NORTH OF BONYS RUN CHURCH. ADDITIONAL WORKINGS ABOUT MILE AND HALF TO SE (SEE GENERAL COMMENTS).

  • TWO OPEN CUTS IN BEDROCK 15-20 FEET LONG AT END OF STEEP TRAIL ABOUT 620 FEET NW FROM PRIVATE ROAD. CUTS APPEAR FRESH AND TRAIL IS RECENT. OTHER WORKING IS AN ADIT ALONG PRIVATE ROAD ABOUT 15 FEET INTO SOUTH SIDE OF RAVINE. ADIT FLOOR CONTAINS 1-2 FEET OF WATER AND ADIT WALLS HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO DRIPSTONE AND TUFA COVERED WITH MOSS. ROCK AT ENTRANCE IS N 25 W 70 SW.

Comments on development

  • THE LANGHORNE PROPERTY WAS PROSPECTED BY OPEN PITS AROUND 1880 AND ADDITIONAL PROSPECTING CONDUCTED ON ADJOINING WILLS PROPERTY ABOUT 1905. RECENT PROSPECTING APPARENTLY WAS DONE IN 1960'S OR 1970'S OR THE OLD PROSPECTS WERE RE-EXAMINED BY AN UNKNOWN COMPANY, POSSIBLE NEW JERSEY ZINC.

Deposit SCATTERED, RARE, DISSEMINATED DARK RED AND YELLOW SPHALERITE IRREGULAR MASSES UP TO 5 CM AND 1-3 MM DISSEMINATIONS OF FRESH GALENA IN GRAY DOLOMITE. WHITE AND GREY SHALE EXPOSED AT END OF ONE CUT. DOLOMITE IS FRACTURED AND CONTORTED IN CONTACT WITH SHALE.
Deposit WATSON (1905, P. 74) MENTIONS PROSPECTS ON SW PART OF POOR MOUNTAIN AT ELEVATIONS OF 2000-2500 FEET 2.5 MILES SE OF SHAWSVILLE OR ABOUT 1.5 MILES FARTHER TO SE. THESE PROSPECTS SHOWED ONLY TRACES OF MINERALIZATION. THIN STRINGERS OF GALENA IN SHALEY BANDS OF LIMESTONE (ROME FORMATION) AND WERE LARGELY INACCESSIBLE AT TIME OF WATSON`S VISIT.
