  • MINERALIZATION IS VERY SPARSE, SCATTERED, DISSEMINATED; ASSOCIATION WITH MYLONITE MAY BE COINCIDENTAL; SOURCE OF MINERALIZATION MAY BE CROSSNORE AGE 637 M.V. FLUORITE - BEARING BIOTITE GRANITE PLUTON NEARBY DESCRIBED BY HUDSON (1981). SOIL GEOCHEMISTRY SHOWED ANOMALOUS GOLD, SILVER, ARSENIC, LEAD, ZINC, TIN, RUBIDIUM, THORIUM ( GOOD UNPUBLISHED DATA).

Comments on the workings information

  • THE INITIAL GEOCHEMICAL ANOMALY WAS FROM A SINGLE SOIL TRAVERSE WHICH SHOWED TIN, ZINC, AND LEAD. FOLLOWUP GEOCHEMISTRY INDICATED THORIUM, URANIUM, ARSENIC, FLUORINE, LITHIUM AND RUBIDIUM ANOMALIES. SOIL SAMPLING FOR PRECIOUS METALS SHOWED 14 OUT OF 39 SOIL SAMPLES > 0.01 PPM AND THREE HIGHLY ANOMALOUS SOIL SAMPLES: 0.326, 0.470 AND 0.512 PPM GOLD (NORTHEAST GEOCHEMICAL AND ASSAY COMPANY, YARMOUTH, MAINE). SHALLOW TRENCHING TO THREE FEET BELOW SURFACE SHOWED BEDROCK OF FELSIC MYLONITE, SOME FRAGMENTS NOT IN PLACE, WITH DISSEMINATED PYRITE, HEMATITE, GOETHITE PATCHES AND CASTES OF CRYSTALS SUGGESTING TETRAHEDRA AND CUBES; MOSTLY SCATTERED, RARE, HEMATITIC BOXWORKS.

Deposit ACCORDING TO LOCAL RESIDENTS HUBBARD, A PROSPECTOR AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY (1900) IS SAID TO HAVE WORKED A GOLD PROSPECT AT THE HEADWATER OF NETTLE CREEK (HERBERT CLARK, PERSONAL COMMUNICATION). NO MINE WAS LOCATED BY WRITER BUT A SHOWING OF ARSENOPYRITE-PYRRHOTITE-WHITE FLUORITE-CHALCOPYRITE WAS NOTED ON SE BANK OF NETTLE CREEK - - FT FROM YANKEE HORSE RIDGE PROSPECT. ; INFO.SRC : 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Deposit BEDROCK ASSAYS FOR GOLD WERE 0.03 OZ/TON AU, 8.72 TO 0.17 OZ./TON AU AND 0.24 OZ/TON AG (NORTHEAST GEOCHEMICAL AND ASSAY COMPANY, YARMOUTH, MAINE). TRENCHING BY A MAJOR MINING COMPANY FAILED TO REVEAL A CLEAR CUT MINERALIZED ZONE WITH ORE GRADE VALUES BUT SCATTERED, IRREGULAR GOLD AND SILVER ASSAYS. SHALLOW DRILLING WITH ONE VERTICAL HOLE HAD VERY POOR CORE RECOVERY IN MYLONITE ZONE.
