  • MAIN PIT IS 7.6 M (25 FT) BY 6.1 M (20 FT) AND WAS AT LEAST 5.5 M (18 FT) DEEP. THE PIT SOUTHWEST OF THE MAIN PIT MEASURES 3 M (10 FT) BY 3.7 M (12 FT) AND IS 1.5 M (5 FT) DEEP. THE OTHER PIT IS 2.4 M (8 FT) CIRCULAR AND 2.4 M (8 FT) DEEP.

  • MINE CONSISTED OF 3 PITS. MAIN PIT IS LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF A FENCELINE, 305 M (1000 FT) NORTHEAST OF KEMPER'S BARN. ONE SMALL PIT IS ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE FENCELINE, ABOUT 7.6 M (25 FT) SOUTHWEST OF THE MAIN PIT. THE OTHER PIT IS ALSO SOUTH OF THE FENCELINE, ABOUT 15.2 M (50 FT) SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE MAIN PIT. THE MAIN PIT IS NOW FILLED WITH TRASH AND DEBRIS AND THE OTHER TWO PITS ARE FILLED WITH WATER. DATE OF OPERATION IS UNKNOWN AND NO PRODUCTION FIGURES ARE AVAILABLE.

Deposit BARITE IS FOUND ON THE SURFACE AROUND THE MAIN PIT. NO BEDROCK WAS SEEN IN THE PITS. DIABASE COBBLES OCCUR TO THE SOUTH AND EAST OF THE MINE SITE, NOT RELATED TO BARITE MINERALIZATION. BARITE OCCURRED IN RESIDUAL CLAY.
