| Deposit | THE GOSSAN OR LIMONITE CAP WAS FIRST MINED AND FURNACED PRIOR TO THE CIVIL WAR IN THE OLD VICTORIA FURNACE WHICH WAS CLOSED IN 1877. PYRITE MINING BEGAN IN 1882. IN 1906 3 OF THE 8 SHAFTS WERE WORKING. THE MINE WAS WORKED CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL 1922, MILL DISMANTLED AND REMOVED.
