  • QUARRY NO. 1 OPENED 1870 BY GEORGE ANDREWS, IN EARLY 1870'S NORTHERN HALF OWNED AND MINED BY JOSHUA AND WILLIAM P. HUSBAND; SOUTHERN HALF LEASED TO CHARLES HALL. IN 1905 ENTIRE QUARRY OWNED AND MINED BY LOUIS W. HOWE UNTIL 1928. OWNER IN 1958 WAS CONSOLIDATED FELDSPAR COMPANY. IN 1949 PIT WAS ALMOST 800 FEET LONG NORTH-SOUTH, 100 FEET WIDE EAST-WEST, AND 100 FEET DEEP AT SOUTH END WHICH HAD HIGHEST GRADE FELDSPAR. NORTH END HAD WATER INFLOW OF 300 GALLONS PER MINUTE WHICH CEASED MINING OPERATIONS THERE. ADDITIONAL QUARRY LOCATED 1000 FEET TO NNE., THREE PROSPECTS LOCATED 300 FEET SE., 800 FEET SOUTH, AND 1000 FEET SOUTH. MINED FOR ONLY FELDSPAR.
