  • QUARRY OPENED ON HILLSIDE IN 1890. IN 1911, OPERATOR MINE HILL QUARRY CO. IN 1911, PIT 800 FEET LONG NE. TO SW., 275 FEET WIDE NW. TO SE., WITH WORKING FACE 75 FEET HIGH ON NW. SIDE. SMALLER QUARRY OPENED IN 1850 BY SAME OWNERS ON HILL TOP TO WEST. QUARRY ADJACENT TO ROXBURY SIDERITE MINE (SEE FJ-011). GNEISS FOLIATION DIPS GENTLY TO SE. ON EAST SIDE OF QUARRY, BUT 15 DEG. SOUTH 20 DEG. WEST ON WEST SIDE OF QUARRY AND NEAR HORIZONTAL IN CENTER PART OF QUARRY. SOME APLITE DIKES. COLOR MEDIUM BLUISH GRAY WITH FINE GRAINED GNEISSOSE TEXTURE. USED FOR BUILDINGS.
