  • THE NAME OF THE DISCOVERER IS UNCLEAR. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE "1 ST CALIFORNIA" THAT CAMPED NEAR GREAT FALLS FOR A SHORT TIME DURING THE CIVIL WAR. THE MINE HAS CHANGED HANDS SEVERAL TIMES DURING ITS HISTORY ; ECON.COM: THE LAST MAJOR WORKINGS WERE AFTER THE 1934 RAISING OF THE AU PRICE TO $35/OZ
