  • OPERATOR PLYMOUTH QUARRY CO. IN 1908, WHEN QUARRY SIZE WAS 200 FEET LONG NORTH TO SOUTH, 50 FEET WIDE EAST TO WEST, WITH WORKING FACE 40 FEET TO EAST. COLOR MEDIUM BLUISH GRAY WITH EVEN GRAINED FINE GRANITIC TEXTURE. OPENED ABOUT 1884; IN 1908 SPORADICALLY QUARRIED. USGS TOPO MAP, 1956, "THOMASTON" AT 1:24000 SHOWS POSSIBLE PLYMOUTH ROCK QUARRY SITE TO BE 0.4 MILE NORTH OF SITE INDICATED OR POSSIBLY ANOTHER UNLISTED ABANDONED QUARRY SITE.
