  • OPENED 1876 WITH TWO QUARRY SITES. EAST QUARRY 200 FEET LONG NORTH TO SOUTH, 50 FEET WIDE WITH WORKING FACE ON EAST. WEST QUARRY 300 FEET SOUTH, AND IS 400 FEET LONG NORTH TO SOUTH, 75 FEET WIDE, AND AS MUCH AS 30 FEET DEEP, WITH WORKING FACE TO WEST. SHEETS 2 TO 12 FEET THICK, DIP 15 DEG. WSW. BIOTITIC PLANES STRIKE N. 65 DEG. EAST, DIP 60 TO 65 DEG. NNW. GRANITE COLOR MEDIUM REDDISH GRAY, WITH MEDIUM TO COARSE, NOT PORPHYRITIC, GNEISSOID TEXTURE. USED FOR VARIOUS BUILDINGS. OPERATOR IN 1911, STONY CREEK RED GRAINITE CO.
