  • OPENED ABOUT 1878. IN 1911 OPERATED BY CHARLES LARRABEE, JR. COLOR OF INTERBANDED MEDIUM AND VERY DARK GRAY SHADES WITH A FEW PINKISH BANDS OF MUSCOVITE GNEISS AND SOME PINKISH PEGMATITES. HAS FINE GRAINED GNEISSOSE TEXTURE. ON TOPO SHEET QUARRY IS ABOUT 400 FEET LONG EAST TO WEST, 200 FEET WIDE, AND A REPORTED 40 FEET DEEP. GNEISS FOLIATION STRIKES E. TO W.,DIPS 10 DEG.SOUTH. SHEETS 6 TO 12 INCHES THICK COINCIDE WITH FOLIATION. USED FOR CURBS, WALKS, STEPS, FLAGGING
