Deposit Discovery Year: COLONIAL DAYS
Deposit SEVERAL GOLD DEPOSITS EACH HAVING VEINS OF VARYING CHARACTERISTICS ARE PRESENT. ON THE METALLOGENIC MAP OF PERU THESE ARE GROUPED AROUND CHAPARA AND EXTEND WESTWARD TO CASA BLANCA. THE AREQUIPA GOLD DEPOSITS IN THE PACIFIC BATHOLITH INCLUDE NOS. 61-62-63-64-66-67-74-98-99-94-55-56-57-59-95 AND 96 ON THE MAP. THESE SMALL INDIVIDUAL MINES CONSTITUTE ONE OF THE LARGEST GOLD PRODUCING AREAS IN PERU
Deposit THE VEINS ARE GENERALLY IN GRANODIORITE OVERLAIN BY POST MINERAL RHYOLITE LAVAS AND TUFFS IN SOME PLACES AND BY SEDIMENTARY ROCKS OF TERTIARY AGE IN OTHER PLACES.
