| Deposit | AVERAGE WIDTH 100 CM. THE VEINS ARE ZONES OF CRUSHED AND SHEETED ROCK REPLACED BY WHITE AND SMOKY QUARTZ WITH STREAKS, VEINLETS, AND DISSEMINATIONS OF SULFIDE MINERALS, MAINLY PYRITE (95%) AND ATTAIN A LENGTH OF MORE THAN 750 M AND VERTICAL EXTENTS IN EXCESS OF 300 M. THEIR THICKNESS RANGES FROM A FEW CENTIMETERS TO 200 CM AND AVERAGES PERHAPS 60-80 CM. GOLD OCCURS FREE IN QUARTZ AND PYRITE AND IS REPORTED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH BOTH CHALCOPYRITE AND ARSENOPYRITE ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT FOUND AS INCLUSIONS IN CHALCOPYRITE. THE VEINS SEEM TO BE MOST PRODUCTIVE IN SHALE... THE PRINCIPAL VEIN OF THE PATAZ REGION IS THE SAN FRANCISCO, THE ONLY VEIN WORKED ON A LARGE SCALE IN THE PERIOD 1924-1942. THE VEIN STRIKES NORTH, DIPS 15-60 DEG E (AVERAGE 35 DEG). WIDTH RANGED FROM 25 TO 180CM & AVERAGED ABOUT 100CM. THE VEIN LIES APPROX. ALONG THE CONTACT BETWEEN GRANODIORITE & SHALE LOCALLY CONVERTED TO HORNFELS. |
