General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit Discovery Year: EXPLOITED DURING COLONIAL PERIOD.
Deposit RICH ORES HAVE ABOUT 30 OZ/MT AG IN MARION VEIN AND AG/AU RATIO OF 150. (1) ANDESITE FLOWS AND AGGLOMERATES ARE CUT BY FINE-GRAINED DIKES AND BY A SERIES OF VEINS ALONG BRECCIA ZONES THAT TREND WEST OR SOMEWHAT NW. WALL ROCK IS ARGILIZED. VEIN MATERIAL IS WHITE VUGGY OR BANDED QUARTZ, ALTERED WALL ROCK, AND RHODOCHROSITE WITH DISSEMINATED GALENA, SPHALERITE, A LITTLE ARSENOPYRITE, AND IN ONE VEIN, STIBNITE. ORE IS RATHER SPOTTY, BUT SEEMS TO CONTAIN ABOUT 1-2% LEAD, 300-700 GRAMS SILVER PER TON, AND 2-3 GRAMS GOLD PER TON. ZINC CONTENT IS EXTREMELY IRREGULAR, BUT MAY BE AS HIGH AS 15-20%. (2) MIDDLE SEGMENT OF VEIN CONTOURED IN SILVER GRADE, SHOWS SHOOTS WITH MAXIMUM 30 AND 35 OZ/METRIC TON (CANDIOTTI R. AND OTHERS (1990)). (9) NO OREBODIES IDENTIFIED AT MORE THAN 500 M BELOW PRESENT TOPOGRAPHICAL SURFACE. VEINS OCCUR IN AREA OF 20 SQ KM.
