Deposit Discovery Year: BEGINNING OF 19TH CENTURY
Deposit ELEVEN VEINS STRIKING EITHER N50-90W, OR N45-70E, AND DIP 55-80W. THE VEINS CONSIST OF GALENA, SPHALERITE, & MANGANESE OXIDE. AT THE BASE OF THE GOYLLARISQUIGA FORMATION IS AN IRREGULAR YELLOWISH OR BLACK LAYER OR MANTO OF IRON & MANGANESE OXIDES THAT CONTAIN AN APPRECIABLE AMOUNT OF AG, POSSIBLY IN THE FORM ARGENTITE, & SOME LEAD(CARBONATE?). LIMESTONE OF THE FOOTWALL IS SILICIFIED. ORE CONTAINS 4-20% LEAD, 7-10% ZINC, & 350-1500GRAMS OF AG PER TON; SOME VERY RICH AG ORE IS REPORTED TO CARRY MORE THAN 3KG. PER TON. AT THE NE CORNER OF THE MAP AREA A VERY PROMINANT GOSSAN LIES ON PUCARA LIMESTONE, IN PLACES ALONG THE FAULT CONTACT WITH EXCELSIOR FORMATION.
Deposit PUCARA GROUP OCCURS AT N. AND S. ENDS OF MINE AREA AND PRESUMABLY AT DEPTH BELOW THE ENTIRE MINERALIZED AREA. SEE RECORD PAS0050.
