General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit SHOOTS WITH MAX. THICKNESS 30 M. THE TWO PRINCIPAL VEINS, HUAMACHUCO AND ALFA, ARE PARALLEL. THE ONLY NON-METALLIC GANGUE MINERAL IS QUARTZ WHICH COMMONLY SHOWS COMB STRUCTURE. VEINS ARE BANDED AND VUGGY AND ARE CHARACTERIZED BY CURVING WALLS AND NUMEROUS SPLITS, ESPECIALLY WHERE VEIN WALLS ARE SHALE. VEIN STRUCTURES ARE STRONGEST WHERE ONE OR BOTH WALLS ARE DIORITE, & USUALLY DEGENERATE INTO A SERIES OF NARROW STRINGERS WHERE THEY ENTER SHALE, PARTICULARLY THE DARK BITUMINOUS SHALE. ORE BEING MINED IN 1951 AVERAGED 3-4% LEAD, 3-4% ZINC, 150-200GRAMS OF AG PER TON, & A FEW GRAMS OF AU PER TON.
