  • THE ABOVE ORE HAS THE COMPOSITION OF: 41.5% AL2O3, 1.7% SIO2, 30% FE2O3, 4% TIO2, 0.8% OTHER OXIDES AND 22% LOSS ON IGNITION. RESERVES OUTLINED BY BUREAU MINIER GUYANAIS FROM 150 MILLION TONS OF LATERITE. PATTERSON ESTIMATES 70 MILLION TONS IN FRECH GUIANA.

  • BUREAU MINIER GUYANAIS AND KAISER ALUMINUM COMPANY OBTAINED CONCESSION OF 2,970 SQ KM (GUISAMBOURG PERMIT) AND DID EXPLORATION FROM 1957-1960; 1960 AN EXTENSION TO KAISER'S PERMIT WAS NOT GRANTED AND THEY LEFT; PECHINEY AND ALCOA PLANNED TO PRODUCE 1 MILLION TON/YEAR IN 1973 THAT WOULD BE PROCESSED IN GUYANA.

Deposit BETWEEN KAW AND ROURA 16 ACRES OF BAUXITE OCCURRENCES. DEPOSITS IN KAW MOUNTAINS ARE AT ELEVATIONS OF 750-1100 FT AND THOSE IN ROURA MOUNTAINS 600-750 FT. SOME DEPOSITS REACH 60 FT THICK.
Deposit DEPOSITS IN THE KAW MOUNTAINS BEGIN AT ALTITUDE 234 METERS, BUT END AT THIS ELEVATION IN THE ROURA MOUNTAINS.
