Deposit DISTRIBUTION OF DEPOSIT NOT KNOWN IN RED SOIL OR ASSOCIATED BASIC IGNEOUS ROCK. A 2 KILOGRAM SAMPLE WAS TAKEN ALONG GRADATIONAL CONTACT BETWEEN WEATHERED GABBRO AND RED SOIL REVEALED 1/2 MILLIGRAM OF GOLD. THE GOLD PROSPECT IS LOCATED IN SW PART OF BARRA DO MENDES QUADRANGLE AND OWNED BY SR. REGINALDO DE NOVAES. THE LOCAL TERM FOR WEATHERED GABBRO EXPOSED A FEW CM ABOVE THE THICK RED SOIL IS JACARE (CROCODILE). SR. REGINALDO WORKS THE SOIL WITH A HOMEMADE BELLOWS TYPE DRY WASHER TO RECOVER GOLD. A DETAILED SAMPLING PROGRAM SEEMS NECESSARY, AS THIS SINGLE SAMPLE SHOWED, ROUGHLY, A GOLD CONTENT OF 50? TO 70? A CUBIC METER OF SOIL AND SAPROLITE. WE MUST FIND OUT IF GOLD IS EVENLY DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THIS IGNEOUS ROCK, FIND OUT THE AREAL EXTENT OF THE ROCK, AND TEST FOUR OTHER INTRUSIONS OF THIS ROCK. THE COMPLETE LACK OF WATER IN THE AREA MAKES SOME FORM OF DRY WASHING NECESSARY FOR FIELD TESTING THESE IGNEOUS BODIES.
