Comments on the geologic information

  • ORE IN SHEAR ZONE TRENDING NORTH-SOUTH AND DIPPING 50 E ABOUT 20 METERS WIDE WHERE EXPOSED. ONE SMALL PIT ABOUT HALF A METER DEEP IS THE ONLY EXPLORATION. GRAPHITE QUALITY IS GOOD, MUCH GRAPHITE AND LITTLE CLAY OR QUARTZ. FURTHER EXPLORATION, SAMPLING AND MAPPING IS RECOMMENDED. HAND AUGER DRILLING MIGHT EXPOSE GRAPHITIC MATERIAL BENEATH SOIL COVER. THIS LOOKS PROMISING AND IS ONLY 100 METERS FROM AN ALL-WEATHER ROAD. THE OWNER SAYS THAT IN OCTOBER THE BRUSH IS CLEAR FOR BEST VISIBILITY. THE DEPOSIT IS LOCATED IN FAZENDA SONHEN, ABOUT 9 KM FROM RUI BARBOSA. THE GRAPHITE ZONE IS CUT BY VEINLETS OF MILKY WHITE AND SMOKY QUARTZ WHICH CONTAIN PYRITE. THIS OCCURRENCE IS SIMILAR TO THE SHEAR ZONE IN MARLU GOLD MINING AREA IN GHANA WHERE GOLD WAS COMMERCIALLY PRODUCED. LESS THAN ONE KM FROM THE GRAPHITE DEPOSIT, A SECTION OF CARBONATE ROCKS (LIMESTONE AND MARBLE) AND SILICIFIED LIMESTONE ABOUT 100 M THICK IS EXPOSED AT A ROAD CUT. THE LIMESTONE IS WEDGED BETWEEN TWO FAULTS AND IS CUT BY
  • SEVERAL QUARTZ VEINS. THE LIMESTONE IS GREEN IN SEVERAL PLACES. THE FAULT ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE CARBONATE SECTION STRIKES ABOUT N10E AND CONSISTS OF SEVERAL FAULTS AND FAULT GOUGES THAT HAVE 40-60 CM OF GRAPHITE.
