Deposit LOCATED ON THE ISLAND OF EUBOEA, 18 MILES FROM THE PLANT AT LARYMNA. DEPOSITS OCCUR IN UPPER CRETACEOUS LIMESTONE, WHICH COVER AN AREA OF 67,000 STREMATA (1000 SQ. METERS). AS OF 7/73, ONLY 5000 STREMATA HAD BEEN INVESTIGATED; BASED ON DATA FROM THESE 5000 STREMATA, IT IS QUITE POSSIBLE THAT THE ENTIRE DEPOSITS CONTAIN 600-MILLION METRIC TONS OF ORE, AS 200-MILL. METRIC TONS CERTAIN/ALMOST CERTAIN RESERVES, AND 400-MILL. METRIC TONS PROBABLE/POTENTIAL RESERVES. THE DEPOSITS AT EUBOEA, WHILE CONSIDERED TO BE LOW-GRADE (1.1-1.3% NI), ARE COMPLETELY FREE OF ARSENIC AND ARE BEING MINED TO AN INCREASING EXTENT. LARCO (OWNER) IS ATTEMPTING TO EXPAND PRODUCTION TO 35,000 M.T.P.Y. BETWEEN ITS EUBOEA AND HAGIOS JOANNIS MINES, (SEE MINING MAGAZINE, 7/73, FOR COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF MINES.
