Geologic structures

Type of structure Regional
Structure description Ozark Dome, St. Francios Igneous High , Buick Embayment
Type of structure Local
Structure description Davis Shale Overlies The Bonneterre Formation And Has Acted As An Impervious Barrier To Solution Flow. Underlying Precambrian Knobs Are Not Present. Joint System Oriented About N 50 Deg E And N 30 Deg W. High Ore Zone Is Bound By Faults Which Can Be Traced Continuously For About 4500 Ft In The Magmont Mine And Extend North And South Into Adjoining Property. All The High Ore Along This 4500 Ft Is Marked On Both East And West Sides By These Distinctive Shale-Filled Subsidence Fractures.

Comments on the geologic information

  • REPETITIOUS CHARACTER OF THE SULFIDE MINERAL DEPOSITION INDICATES THAT THE ORES WERE DEPOSITED OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND THAT THE ORE-CONTROLLING STRUCTURES DEVELOPED DURING THE SPAN OF ORE DEPOSITION (HAGNI, R.D., AND TRANCYNGER, T.C., 1977 ).

Comments on development

  • MILL$: 18.5 ; MILL.CAP: 1000 ; ECON.YEAR: 1977 ; ECON.COM: REPLACEMENT INTERGROWTHS OF GALENA AND SPHALERITE PRODUCE ENOUGH BINARY LOCKED PARTICLES TO CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH THE SMALL AMOUNTS OF ZINC IN THE LEAD CONCENTRATES; SOME OF THE SMALLER SPHALERITE GRAINS FORM LOCKED PARTICLES WITH DOLOMITE AND CARRY AMOUNTS OF MAGNESIA INTO THE ZINC CONCENTRATE. HIGH LEAD CONTENT OF THE COPPER CONCENTRATES PREVENTS THEM FROM BEING MARKETED DOMESTICALLY. WHERE SIEGENITE REPLACES SPHALERITE, INTIMATE REPLACEMENT TEXTURES LOCK THE SIEGENITE WITH THE SPHALERITE, AND IT IS REPORTED WITH THE ZINC CONCENTRATE; THE MARKETABILITY OF THE ZINC CONCENTRATE IS ADVERSELY AFFECTED.
