  • 12 SHAFTS SUNK ALONG DEPOSIT. IN 1976 SEVERAL LARGE CAVED PITS, SHAFTS AND TRENCHES WERE SEEN. ONE SHAFT OF 6 M DIAMETER WAS ABOUT 12 M DEEP. MILL AND DUMP REMAINS WERE ALSO PRESENT. 12 SHAFTS AND ONE TUNNEL WERE OPENED ON THE HIGH HILL VEIN, THE DEEPEST SHAFT WAS AT LEAST 112 M (367 FT). THE AVERAGE AMOUNT OF SHAFT SINKING WAS 350 M (1,149 FT), WITH 703 M (2,306 FT) OF LEVELS, AS OF 1906.
