Comments on the workings information

  • TWO SHALLOW SHAFTS A SHORT DRIFT AND A CROSSCUT WERE DRIVEN (1890'S (?)). AN UNDERGROUND STREAM ENCOUNTERED IN DRIFTING FLOODED MINE, CAUSING CESSATION OF OPERATIONS. IN 1981, TWO SMALL MOUNDS OF BRECCIA WERE SEEN, PROBABLY THE REMAINS OF THE TWO SHAFTS.

Comments on development

  • GALENA POSSIBLY EXTRACTED DURING CIVIL WAR. MINING AGREEMENT RECORDED IN 1893. IN 1929 AND 1930 HARFORD TALC AND QUARTZ CO. OF BEL AIR, MD. AND LEVERING BROS. OF BALTIMORE CLEANED OUT TWO EXISTING WORKINGS. IN 1950'S, NEW JERSEY ZINC CO. AND AMERICAN ZINC CO. CONDUCTED EXPLORATORY DRILLING.
