  • GEOLOGY AT PROSPECT IS MASSIVE, DENSE, MEDIUM TO DARK GRAY, LAMINATED TO 12 INCH THICK BEDDED LIMESTONE/DOLOMITE WITH BLOCKY PARTING. STRIKE N 66 DEG E/DIP 61 DEG SE. THIN VEINS OF QUARTZ AND CARBONATE (WHITE DOLOMITE?) ALONG FRACTURES WITH MINOR FEOX STAINING, BUT NO FRESH GALENA OR SPHALERITE.

  • WATSON (1905) REPORTED THAT A SHAFT WAS BEING SUNK ON THE EDGE OF SOUTH FORK OF HOLSTON RIVER. DEPTH OF SHAFT UNKNOWN AND NOT FURTHER DESCRIBED BY CURRIER (1935). FIELD INSPECTION CONDUCTED 2/10/80. ADIT PARALLEL TO STRIKE JUST ABOVE CREEK LEVEL TRENDING N 70 DEG E FOUND WITH SMALL OUTSLOPE DUMP. POSSIBLE SMALL PROSPECT PITS (?) THAT ARE HEAVILY GROWN OVER LIE WITHIN 200 FEET TO SOUTH OF PROSPECT ON HILLSIDE.

  • VIRGINIA LEAD AND ZINC CO. PROSPECTED THE DEPOSIT IN 1905. A SHAFT WAS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN STARTED IN 1905 BUT NO INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE (WATSON, 1905).

Deposit LIMESTONE IS BRECCIATED, WITH WHITE DOLOMITE, GALENA AND SPHALERITE. SIMILAR TO GEOLOGY AND SETTING AT THE SCOTT PROSPECT (WATSON, 1905). NO GALENA OR SPHALERITE WAS FOUND BY CURRIER (1935).
