  • LOCATED ABOUT 75 KM DUE WEST OF COCHABAMBA, 30 KM TO THE SE OF THE AMUTARA MINING DISTRICT, AND IN A LINE OF TUNGSTEN DEPOSITS WHICH EXTENDS TO THE SE APPROXIMATING THE STRIKE OF THE AXIS OF THE QUIMSA CRUZ BATHOLITH TO THE NORTH. THE DISTRICT IS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE AYOPAYA RIVER JUST SOUTH OF ITS JUNCTION WITH THE COLQUIRI RIVER; PREVIOUS QUAD DESIGNATION = COCHABAMBA (SE 19-8) 1:250000

Deposit MAIN TUNGSTEN ZONE IS A SHEETED QUARTZ-PYRRHOTITE-FERBERITE VEIN COMPLEX. MAJOR ENE VEINS ARE THE ESPADA, VICTORIA, CABLES AND BLANCO. THE MAJOR WSW VEIN IS THE MIRAFLORES. INDIVIDUAL VEINS ARE UP TO 1 M THICK. TIN IS FOUND IN PERIPHERAL QUARTZ-PYRITE-CASSITERITE VEINS. SOME TUNGSTEN ORE FOUND CONCENTRATED IN "LLAMPERAS" OR LANDSLIDE DEPOSITS.
Deposit SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC CONCENTRATIONS OF TUNGSTEN ARE FOUND IN LANDSLIDE MATERIAL KNOWN AS "LLAMPERAS." ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AYOPAYA RIVER. E.G. THE TAMINANI LLAMPERAS, A LARGE PAST PRODUCER. A PRONOUNCED CU-ZN-SN-W-AS-MN-RB-SR GEOCHEMICAL DISPERSION ANOMALY PRESENT. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
Deposit VEINS ARE ONLY IN THE MINERALIZED COUNTRY ROCK AND TREND PARALLEL TO THE CONTACT BORDER OF THE BATHOLITH.
