| Deposit | PIT DUG BY HEISHMAN EXPOSED BRECCIATED CHERT CEMENTED BY MANGANESE ENCLOSED IN DARK WAD SOIL. A FEW FRAGMENTS OF HARD ORE WERE EVIDENT IN 1920. ON THE UPPER SOUTH SLOPE OF THE RIDGE, CHERT AND SANDSTONE FRAGMENTS IMPREGNATED WITH MANGANESE COVER THE SURFACE. THE PITS OF LATER PROSPECTING PENETRATED CHERT, SAND, AND SANDY CLAY, WHICH ARE RESIDUAL FROM THE NEW SCOTLAND LIMESTONE. |
