Comments on the location information

  • South central part of township in a cirque in the Clear Creek drainage at an elevation greater than 11,000 ft.
  • Moved old MRDS location at -109-44-2 43-18-27 to -109-42-15 43-18-30 to be 1.75 mi. West of Downs Peak and in a cirque above 11,000 ft. Assume this is the upper reaches of Clear Creek. Clear Creek is labeled on the west side of Bear Lake but not on the east side between Hunters Hump and Northwest Peak.

Deposit SURFACE EXPOSURES OF THE BODY COMPRISE 60-70% OF THE OUTCROP AREA OF 1600 BY 2500 FT. The taconite occurs IN PARALLEL LAYERS 5-30 FT THICK that are SYNFORMAL IN STRUCTURE. Precambrian gneiss an dmigmatite separate the leayers. Migmatite and amphibolite surround the taconite.
