Comments on the geologic information

  • Red granite contains layers of schist, gneiss, and other rocks. Quartz veins and "dykes of diorite" cut the schists, and occasionally are altered and replaced by limonite and copper and iron sulfides. Copper carbonates stain some of the viens. Chalcopyrite was encountered at 75 ft." (Osterwald and others, Bull. 50, p. 51.)
