General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit IN THE CLAY WERE FOUND MANY BROWN MODULES OR LUMPS THAT WERE SAID TO BE SMITHSONITE, BUT UPON CHEMICAL EXAMINATION THEY WERE FOUND TO CONTAIN VERY LITTLE ZINC, AND THAT ONLY IN THE THIN SEAMS. IN THIS CASE I SUSPECT THEY FOUND EITHER A MANGANESE OR IRON OXIDE DEPOSIT, MANGANESE BEING MORE LIKELY. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT
