Deposit SUPERGENE BLANKET CONTAINS UPPER GOLD-RICH OXIDIZED SAPROLITE LAYER OVERLYING LOWER ZONE CONTAINING ABUNDANT CHALCOCITE AND BORNITE. MAIN MASSIVE SULFIDE SHEET, OVERLYING LENSES, AND SULFIDE HALO HAVE ALL BEEN ENRICHED DOWN TO APPROX. THE 250' LEVEL. CURRENT MINING IS OF SUPERGENE ZONE
Deposit AS OF MAY, 1996, MINING IS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND WILL BE COMPLETED BY THE FIRST HALF OF 1997 AS PRODUCTION WAS ACCELERATED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIGHER COPPER PRICES. DEEP DRILLING IN 1995 DID NOT DISCOVER SIGNIFICANT MINERALIZATION. BACKFILLING AND RECLAMATION WILL BEGIN IN SUMMER 1997. DISCUSSIONS ARE UNDERWAY WITH THE TOWN OF LADYSMITH REGARDING ALTERNATIVE USES FOR THE RECALIMED MINE SITE. MINING REVENUES RECEIVED BY THE CITY ARE FUNDING CONSTRUCTION DESIGNED TO ATTRACT NEW INDUSTRY AND OVER 300 NEW JOBS.
