Comments on the geologic information

  • OF ALL MANGANESE DISTRICTS, OXIDATION OR ALTERATION OF THE COUNTRY ROCK HAS PROCEEDED MORE GENERALLY AND, APPARENTLY, DEEPER HERE THAN IN ANY OTHER. FOR THIS REASON THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF ANY MANGANESE AS SILICATE ANYWHERE SO FAR EXPLORED. BECAUSE OF THIS DEEP ALTERATION AND OF A CONSIDERABLE NUMBER OF OUTCROPS SHOWING HIGH-GRADE ORE, AS WELL AS CONSIDERABLE FLOAT OF EXCELLENT GRADE, MORE WORK HAS BEEN DONE IN THIS DISTRICT THAN ANY OTHER EXCEPT JUANA DIAZ (PUERTO RICO BUREAU OF MINES, 1941).
