Comments on the geologic information

  • GOLD MINERALIZATION IS LOCATED IN NW ELONGATED METASOMATITES OF QUARTZ AND K-FELDSPAR COMPOSITION OCCURRING IN SANDSTONE AND CARBONATE ROCKS. TWO TYPES OF METASOMATITES HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED: 1) ESSENTIALLY K-FELDSPAR, CONSISTING OF ADULARIA WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF QUARTZ 2) ESSENTIALLY QUARTZOSE VARIETIES, IN WHICH THE QUARTZ HAS REPLACED THE EARLIER-FORMED ADULARIA. THE PRINCIPAL AURIFEROUS MINERAL IS A "RICE-LIKE" QUARTZ WHICH HAS REPLACED A FINER-GRAINED CHALCEDONIC QUARTZ. MOST OF THE ORE IS SITUATED IN AN OXIDIZED ZONE, AND A PORTION OF THE GOLD HAS BEEN REPRECIPITATED UNDER SUPERGENE CONDITIONS. INTENSE KARST FORMATION HAS RESULTED IN COLLAPSE OF AURIFEROUS METASOMATITES INTO KARST OPENINGS.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit NEAR SURFACE GOLD DEPOSIT (IN ZONE OF PLATFORM ACTIVATION), OFTEN LOCATED ALONG KERSANTITE DIKES. THE ORE BODIES COVER A SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE AND VARY WIDELY IN THICKNESS LYING BELOW A COVER OF JURASSIC FORMATIONS AND SOMETIMES OCCURRING AS AN OUTCROP.
