Comments on the location information

  • Political location in record is Beaverhead county. However, original lat/long plotted in Jefferson county. Original coordinates were: lat/long NAD27 46-21-N 111-58-16W (46.35 -111.97111); UTM N<blank> E<blank> Z<blank>; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 007N, RNG 001W, Sect 24,25, Sect_fract <blank>. Old lat/long was likely computed using RNG 3W instead of 1W. PLSS coordinates are in Beaverhead county so they were used to create new lat/long coordinates. The same PLSS coordinates are also found in new reference Killsgaard, 1996.
